A ring navigation bar, like the one shown here, must appear on your site for you to hold ACTIVE membership in this and most other rings.
What Is This Ring?
The purpose of this ring:
This ring is specifically designed for new and novice WebRing users, those who have new or no memberships in any other rings. It's designed to be easy to join and simple to use. It serves to be a stepping stone to additional memberships while bringing additional traffic to your site due to our high visibility (we are officially endorsed by WebRing) and variety of site topics. Don't be the weakest link in any ring you join, make My 1st your 1st ring membership!
Who Can Join?
Every ring has some requirements to join:
You must have your own website (this is true for EVERY WebRing!)
Your website must be non-offensive in nature (we want all ages to be able to view it)
Your website should not hold any webring memberships prior to making an application to this ring. Although exceptions are made at manager's discretion, especially if WebRing Support sent you here! (If you have too many ACTIVE memberships at time of review, you may be denied.)
What Rules Must I Follow?
Every ring has some rules, guidelines, and expectations:
You must place the customized ring code (which creates the navigation bar shown at the top of this page) ON YOUR WEBSITE, specifically on the page you "register" with this Ring as it is the liaison page between your site and the Ring. Because this is your "liaison" page, it must be a page that is easily accessible from all pages of your site. If you use any page except your main content page you absolutely must link back to it using the word "WebRings".
If you use a "links" page, the hyperlink back to that page must read "Links & WebRings".
If you use a splash/cover/entry page, the hyperlink back to that page mut read "WebRings" or "Entry/WebRings"
If you use a WebRing only entry page, the hyperlink back to that page must read "WebRings"
There must be a clear identifier back to the Rings if you use a page other than the main content. Period, no exceptions. Without this, you are not sharing any traffic back to the WebRing. If you only care about what you get from a WebRing, you have no business joining them. It's about traffic sharing, not traffic stealing.
The code is what links your site to every other site in this ring and allows visitors to navigate the ring completely. You'll receive this code in an email after signing up. See the Q&A for Members of &rea's Rings for installation tips and instructions.
Your membership must PASS the ring's navbar checker, which will indicate in over 98% of all cases, whether you installed the code properly. Run this test after installing your code. If the overall result is PASS and you see the navigation, you are fine. If it FAILs, you must determine why and correct the problem. PASS-L is generally not permitted (meaning it is treated like FAIL), unless it is the only test result you can achieve.
You must keep a valid email address in your profile (so you can be reached)
How Do I Join?
These are the steps you must go through to join any WebRing:
Read the email you receive shortly after and follow the instructions
Wait for an email with the results of the WebRing Submission Review, which generally arrives within 24 hours. Follow any instructions contained within.
The email mentioned in #3 above will contain your code and additional instructions!
