This page will breakdown what you see when you view the score page, to help you better understand just what it all means.
ID: USERID, 9.3 (max 11 - 5.5 for sites, 5.5 for Rings)
This line provides your User ID and current total score (if you recently adopted a Ring and have a reduction, it will be reflected in this number) out of a maximum of 11 points
Breakdown:
Site Membership contribution: 5.5; Ring Management contribution: 3.8
This line indicates the breakdown of your overall total score (this does not take into account any recent adoption reductions); how much comes from membership experience and how much comes from management qualifications
Reduction for recently acquired Ring(s): 2
If you have a temporary reduction assessed for adopting a Ring it will appear here (if no reduction, this line won't even appear). Add the membership and management contributions then subtract this number to get the score at the top
Active Sites: 74, Passing: 74, Failing:
These are your memberships (they count toward your membership contribution), not the number of sites in any Rings you currently manage. Active sites are the number of active memberships you hold, in your Rings and others. PASSing takes into account all memberships, active, pending, or suspended, that PASS the checker. Thus, this number COULD be larger than the "active" total. FAILing quantity indicates any memberships, active, pending, or suspended, you hold which FAIL the checker
USERID HAS Site(s) outside of own Ring(s) - good.
If you see this line, it means you participate in a variety of Rings, indicating that you have membership experience beyond Rings you manage, which is important.
USER ID HAS > 150 Site(s) - reduces score (0.25)
Having more than 150 memberships under one ID is excessive and is counted against you. If you have less than 150, you won't see this line.
USERID HAS medium size (>25 Sites) Ring - good.
If you see this line, it means you receive additional points for managing a medium-sized Ring, indicating you have some ability to promote Ring growth
USERID HAS large (>100 Sites) Ring - good.
If you see this line, it means you receive additional points for managing a large Ring, indicating you have greater ability to promote Ring growth
Overall navigation rating of all Rings managed: 99.4242424242424
This is a combination of all sites in your Rings, active, pending, and suspended, thus it encompasses more than just the Navigation Ratings which appear on the hub pages. Any pending or suspended memberships will count a little against you; however, having a 98 won't detract from your overall score any more than having a 99.
Rings Managed: 33 (reduction for "too many" Rings: 0.7) (bonus for "good" number of Rings managed: -- max of 1)
This is no longer a simple reference to Rings managed. This now can be the single biggest influence on your overall score. It's no secret that WebRing has frowned upon the practice of Ring collecting. There are many people on the system who simply own too many Rings. At some point, you go from managing to collecting, for it's impossible to give proper attention to each Ring when you have too many.
The following chart is a roughly accurate (not all have been tested, I'm taking the word of those who tinkered with it) assessment of how your score will be affected based upon your managed Rings quantity.
| Rings | +/- Score |
| 1-5 | no change |
| 6-14 | +1 |
| 15-25 | no change |
| 26-29 | -.35 |
| 30-44 | -.70 |
| 45-60 | -1.05 |
| 61-75 | -1.40 |
This continues on up infinitely. Each partial group of 15 will deduct another .35 from your score. So, if you have 76 Rings, might as well collect up until 90 as those next 14 won't make a difference.
If you are looking at your score and want to ensure the deduction is right, use the following, complicated calculation.
- Take your total number of Rings managed and subtract 29.
- Take that number and divide by 15. If there is a remainder of any amount, round up.
- Take that number and multiply by .35.
- Add another .35 for having 25 through 29 Rings managed, which wasn't counted before.
That number should equal the "reduction for too many Rings" number.
