Today I lost my Tubby Wubby to bloat. As is so common he was fine all day, doing zoomies, chasing his girls, stealing toys and giving me kisses and this afternoon he woke from a nap and 45 minutes later I'm saying my good-byes. Oh Tubbus Wubbus, we came home and didn't hear your big voice welcoming us and the way you ram your head into us...your way of giving hugs. I'll miss that but know we'll all be together one day.
Isn't he handsome?!
Baron was bred by long time breeder/judge Marilyn Draper of Del Lago Danes in Milford, DE. I placed a link to his pedigree below.
I had high hopes for showing him and had
been patiently growing him out when he bloated late October of
2003. It was a shock like it is to most
dane owners. Especially since he was only 2 and a half and
in fabulous condition. Baron had done remarkably well
considering the severity of his case. He was fine one minute and 15 minutes later my husband
recognized his symptoms and I credit his quick reaction to saving
his life.
No more showing for Baron.
He will continue to do what he does best;
love me and my family, harass Cheyenne and Brook, and make us all
laugh with his funny antics. I urge anyone who is contemplating adding
a dane to their life to please read up on bloat. You can find some informative
articles via my links section. It can be fatal and
fortunately for us, both our males survived. Many are not as lucky.
It is also a very costly procedure with no guarantees.
