HI!

Grumman Goose!
Die-cast Toy!

Here's something for all you PULP or WW2 players out there!

Size: wingspan 11.5", fuselage: 9.25".

Scale: guessing a bit smaller than 1/48. Maybe 1/52? Looks fine next to 28mm figures.

Construction: it's heavy; 1.75 pounds o' metal. The box says "Heavy Die-Cast Metal" and they ain't kiddin', bub! You'd need one heck of a flight stand. The only plastic is the canopy (it flips up to reveal the coin slot), the landing struts and the 1.25" trap door underneath to get the coins out. The wheels are rubber. The toy is manufactured in the "wheels down" position and they don't go up. If you were hoping to convert it to a waterline model: good luck! The screws holding it together (2 on the side, 2 underneath) are covered with plugs that don't respond to gentle persuasion. The screws holding on the wing floats are accessible. All in all, it should hold up well to the rigors of the gaming table, perhaps even as a melee weapon.

Colors: here's the tricky part. I found a few in "U.S. Navy" (photos below) color schemes. I have no idea if they're accurate, but they'll work for me. The rest are commercials for Winchester, Shell Oil, and a few other oddly domestic companies. I guess they were hoping to tie in with brand nostalgia collectability. As they all ended up at the K*B Toy Liquidators, it failed. Some of them are mostly white which will make it easier to prime over the enamel and paint it a proper red & white. Krylon is our friend. Some of the designs may have to be sanded off before priming.

Price: originally US$27.99 to US$50.00 each, marked down to US$19.99.
