SOCIAL MINISTRY
Many
contemplative, prayerful acts involve repetition of action; walking a
labyrinth, or perhaps for you, swimming or some other form of
exercise. So why not knitting?
We have formed a “Contemplative Knitting Team” of veteran knitters and
beginners who are knitting shawls for persons who may be recovering
from illness or mourning the loss of a loved one. People who may
be facing a disruption and challenge in their life or, simply, those
who may be broken in spirit for whatever reason. As we create
shawls our handiwork becomes an expression of our love and concern and
also of the loving care of our God ~ who works through us.
As we gather together to knit these shawls we pray love and light and
strength into every stitch. Whether we engage in discussion or
quietly meditate, we pray for those who will receive a shawl and know
that they will be comforting and a reassurance that they are not
alone.
The pattern is simple ~ Love and Prayers go into every stitch
The instructions are basic ~ K3, P3 on #11 needles
Many of us gather together weekly to work on our project, however, this
is a ministry that you can do in your home. Please contact Pat
Davis (275-2401) or the church office (524-0745) for more information
and
to become a part of our group.
