Andrew Jackson fought for the CSA during the civil war.  Killed by Capt. Bill Strong during the Civil War while recruiting help for his wounded brother, Jeremiah.  According to information sent to me by a descendent of Jack, he was killed on Quicksand at the house of Bob Davis.

Children by Andrew and Mary Jane:

Mary Magdalene South (1854 - 1907) m. Roger Spicer, Jr.

Lovisa South (1857 - 1915) m. Curtis Spicer

Jemima South (1858 - 1923)  m. Nathan Combs

Samuel South (1862- ??) m. Carrie W ? (South)

Eliza South (1865 - ??)  confusion about this Eliza.

Robert South (1865 - ??)  m. ? Little

Andrew's  wife Jane was a cousin to Capt. Bill Strong. After the death of Andrew Jackson, his children went by the name of Strong, however, according to a descendant of Andrew Jackson, her grandmother was a "South".

As the story goes......Jane was in mourning for 10 years after the death of Andrew; then married James New and had Nancy New and Curtis New. When Curtis was 9-10 days old (1879 ?) Jane fell out of a wagon and died soon after. Curtis was then raised by Jane's sister Susanna Strong and her husband, Wiley Cope.  James New eventually married another Susan Strong but that's another story.

Would like to find a descendant of Andrew Jackson and Mary Jane Strong to fill in some dates and other information.
