·      Original research traces paternal and maternal roots to early 1500s in Canton of Bern, Switzerland; thence for one generation in Colmar, France, birthplace of John Kryder, wherefrom he was drafted into the army of General Montcalm to fight in the French and Indian War.

·      From Quebec he went with the French army to Ticonderoga, was there captured by the British, and elected to fight in that army until the end of hostilities which after the battle of Fort Pitt found him in Berks county, Pennsylvania where he was married to Angelia Fox in 1767.

·      Pioneering the newly opened County of Northumberland, John Kryder and his family settled first in Buffalo Valley, were survivors of Indian massacres, fleeing down the Susquehanna, and then returning to engage in Revolutionary War service.

·      In 1791 John resettled upon extensive acreage in Penns Valley (which is now in Centre County).

·      This volume researches and records the paternal and maternal lineage of Angelia Fox Kryder.

·      This Volume records the comprehensive biographical histories of the ten generations of John Kryder’s descendants leading up to the end of the 20th century.

·      All Kryders of this line emanate from John’s two sons, John Jr. the pioneer of Stark county, Ohio, and Jacob who stayed in Pennsylvania, the friend of Andrew Jackson.  Both sons were judges and both were prominent in the political life of their times.

·      John was the father also of three daughters, whose biographical histories cover their marriages, the family history of their spouses, and the families of their children. This pattern is followed throughout the Volume for daughters of Kryders.
