At Bethel, Berks County,
Pa., on April 20, 1887, Mrs. Sophia Weber, wife of Elder John Weber and mother
of
the Rev. A. S. Weber, of
Westminster, Md., aged 57 years, 1 month and 7 days.
Mrs. Weber was the
daughter of the late Peter Snyder, Esq., of Stouchsburgh, Pa. She enjoyed the blessing of a long
line of pious Christian
ancesters. In infancy she was received
into the membership of the church through the
sacrament of baptism, and
some years later confirmed by the Rev. Daniel Ulrich, and admitted to the full
communion of the
church. She was married March 1, 1851,
to Mr. John Weber, who, with a family of grown sons and
daughters, is left to
mourn over the loss which he sustained.
Mrs. Weber was of a sweet, unassuming and
retiring disposition. She was well known in her community for the
big-hearted hospitality which her
numerous friends always
enjoyed in her home, and for the tender and affectionate consideration which
all could
await from her when their
wants or wishes were brought to her notice.
But she was more than this, - she was a humble Christian.
She heartily accepted
Christ as her Savior. Her life was
guided by the principles of the Gospel, and supported by its
blessed comforts she fell
peacefully asleep in the confident hope of a blissful immortality. “Write, Blessed are the
dead who died in the Lord
from henceforth; yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors,
and their works do
follow them.” – Reformed
Church Messenger.
