Fractured Bible Stories

Introduction

The Bible says God created man in his own image. I presume that means that since man has a sense of humor, God has one also. I have a feeling that He enjoys a good joke as well as the next fellow. For this reason, I call one part of my fiction section "Fractured Bible Stories." I have taken some Bible stories and given them a somewhat unusual interpretation. This may not be as far-fetched as it seems at first glance - people have been putting their own twist to Bible stories for almost two thousand years. Besides, the Bible has been told and retold, copied and recopied, translated and retranslated so many times that it is almost impossible that the way we read it today is the way it was originally received.

There is a story that a pope died, and upon arriving in Heaven, he was told that since he had been such a faithful servant, he would be allowed to do anything he wished while in residence there. He asked whether any verbatim record had been kept when God was passing His word to mortals. Upon being told that such a record was in the archives, he asked, and was granted, permission to study these valuable records. One day after several years had gone by, a scream was heard coming from the record room. "There's an 'R' in it! There's an 'R' in it! We had it wrong all those years! The word is celebrate!"

Warning If you are uncomfortable with irreverence, PLEASE DO NOT READ THE FRACTURED BIBLE STORIES SECTION.
