Then we have transitions zones between the forest and swamps. The Castor Creek area exhibits characteristics of both. Bald cypress and black and sweet gums can be found in grassy swaths of poison ivy. In addition, a plethora of stinging, biting, and generally nasty insects abound here. The air is dense with humidity and the aroma is quite organic (read rotting vegetation). Yoda comes here to vacation. Still, we like the area.
