RELEASE DATE: September 19,
2005
The
United Way of Boyertown Area and
the Boyertown Area Unity Coalition (BAUC) will cosponsor the Second
Annual
Unity Walk, scheduled for Sunday, October 16, 2005, starting at 1 pm from Boyertown Junior
High West. This
year, the theme is “Every Walker Counts
in a Community that Cares.”
In response to the positive reception of last year’s walk,
and the support shown by many groups and individuals, the United Way
and BAUC
are pleased to encourage community members to once again show their
support for
the continued development of a welcoming and accepting environment in
which to
live, learn, and work. The event hopes to demonstrate that Boyertown is
a
community that accepts everyone.
Community members are invited and encouraged to
participate. It is anticipated that all ten public schools in the
Boyertown
Area School District will be involved, and private schools in the area
are also
invited to join in this effort.
The walk is free and open to the public and will begin at
Boyertown Junior High West, South Madison Street, Boyertown. Registration opens at 1 pm and the walk begins at 2 pm. Anyone interested in
volunteering
or preregistering for the event should contact the Boyertown Area Unity
Coalition at 610-781-1455 (www.boyertown
unitycoalition. org) or the United Way office at 610-367-8716.
